One of my Workshop activities is usually a "Shape Book". The shape books have one sentence per page, with one word in each sentence left out for the children to fill in. The children use "Kindergarten Spelling" to write the words, and then illustrate the pages.

The books are made by using construction paper or card stock for the front and back of the book, and regular typing paper in the middle. The books are then cut into a shape, and stapled on the side.

This is a great thing to ask parent volunteers to do for you!

This is a copy of the shape book I use during this unit. The bus is clipart from Djinkers (Just For Fun CD). I pulled the pages apart so that you could see each page, but normally it would be stapled together at the top or on the left side with a blank yellow sheet for a back cover.

The text says:
_________ Gets Ready For Kindergarten
I wear my __________.
I brought my _________.
I ate __________for breakfast.
